Near the City and the Naschmarkt, located in the called Schlossquadrat in Old-Margareten, situated on a historical ground, there are four gastronomic houses, usually visited from the neighbourhood – here you’ll get to know the real Vienna: young artists, students, workers, architects and business men live in this district.

On the Margaretenplatz, the centre of the district, during the 14th century there was a castle, which had a nearly quadrate ground plan.

The Castle was destroyed twice during the Turkish besiegement; some remnants of the old substance are still there.

This quad of houses between Margaretenplatz, Schlossgasse and Hofgasse, nowadays called Schlossquadrat, is known to be the culinary secret near downtown, because right here the original flair of the old tradition and the world open-minded trends creates an interesting combination. Especially attractive are the summer gardens positioned in green courtyards.

Our waiters speak German and English, in the Trattoria some of them also Italian. In the Guest-house Silberwirt and in the Trattoria Margareta you can have an English menu-card.
